Admission

Criteria for Admission

 

Applicant to this faculty must have:

  • Completed secondary education
  • Passed the general requirement courses of the freshman year with at least a GPA of 3:00

  • Most subjects are taught with a variety of methods including lectures, projected materials with lecturers notes presented to the students, practical work and seminars.

Examination Regulations

 

Medical School of Amoud University will follow the general rules and regulations of Amoud University for the award of degrees.

 

  1. The examinations shall be conducted by the lectures of each course assisted by other invigilators when needed.
  2. Two examinations will be done for every subject. One exam at the middle of the semester and the other at the end of the course which covers the whole course.
  3. The examinations will be written exams, oral exams, practical exams, clinical exams, assignments and continuous assessment of each student during the course according to the specifications of the curriculum.
  4. No student will not be admitted  to any examination unless :

a)      He or she has satisfied all the requirements of the course (subject).

b)      He or she has paid the fees prescribed.

  1. Any student who has been absent from the faculty for a prolonged period during the study semester for reasons other than illness or his performance during the course has not been satisfactory will not sit for the examinations.
  2. Any student who was absent for a prolonged period during the study semester due to illness will be permitted to sit for the examination subject to the approval of the board of the examination.
  3. Any student founding cheating, receiving assistance or assisting other student will be penalized according to the regulations and by laws of the university.
  4. Students who fail three courses (subjects) or more will not proceed to the next semester.
  5. Students who fail in one or two courses (subjects) in the semester will be given a second chance before the start of the next semester.
  6. Student who successfully passes all examinations will set for the final qualifying examination which will be examinations on the five main disciplines of medicine.

 

 

a)      Internal Medicine

b)      General Surgery

c)      Gyn/Obs

d)      Pediatrics

e)      Community Medicine

 

The examination will consist of written and clinical and oral examinations

  1. Students who fail qualifying in the examinations will be given a supplementary examination after six months and that period at the student will stay at the teaching hospital of the faculty.
  2. Each student is required to conduct a specific research project on a health problem in the community. He/she will present it after the final qualifying examinations.
